Hello Everyone,
I've been quietly lurking in the shadows and have finally mustered up
enough courage to make my first post.
First, I want to give a huge thank you to everyone for making such a
great product that makes many lives better. I, and my clients, really
appreciate Joomla and the Joomla Community. We'll do our best to keep
giving back.
On to the post ... I've recently launched a site for a client. The
site contained two contact forms, the standard Joomla contact form,
and a custom form using Tectite's FormMail processor (
http://www.tectite.com/formmailpage.php ). Within two days, the
standard form was getting bombarded with Spam while the Tectitie form
was not. One of the anti-spam features of Tectite's form processor is
it's support of reverse captcha.
This technique has proven effective for me in the past, and seems like
it could help the standard Joomla contact form. I generally use
multiple fields, hidden with Javascript, so that at least one field
must contain a certain value, and the others blank.
Maybe this could work as a plug-in?
I'm definitely not on the same level of programming as everyone else
here, but would be whiling to make an attempt at creating a plug-in if
it seems like it'd help. What do you think?
Thanks again!
