Hello,

do things like getState, getUserFromRequest etc.
only work for users, who are logged in?

I'm working at a component. There is a search-form
in a module. There are filters set which are given to
a view. It is used app->getUserState...
In the model is a getListquery. The filters are
given to a component.
It's done with getUserRequestFrom in populateState and SetState.
In GetListQuery there is a GetState.
The whole thing only works for users who are logged in.
If a user is not logged in, only the first filter-set works.
In the second try the first filter-sets are chosen, although I give
in a new value.
So I think about the fact if the whole thing only works
for logged in users.

It's the programming within a given extension.

Greetings,
Gerd

Hello Gerd,
This is not a question to be asked in the Joomla Bug Squad and J-CMS
discussion Groups. We are here to improve Joomla and not to provide
extension support. Your question belongs imho in the Joomla forums
http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=715 and here your question can
be answered.

Happy Joomla!

The session works the same both for logged in and not logged in users
and thus the same for the mentioned methods.

Hey All,

Not to go too off topic, but it might be a good idea to have a dedicated list for JED listed extension devs as well as core contributors to discuss stuff and solve problems. Overall will only help improve quality and ensure a better Joomla -- With extensions and without.

Quiet a good idea, but as I see myself (after getting hard in d3dx,cpp, bleble), every one of us finds its own way. But, the way to reach advanced !J devs is nice feature, though they might feel overhelmed with too basic stuff which is put into the board when someone drives himself a shortway.
Dev team now ( in my eyes ) have no time to sacrafice for docs, so I'd rather advise to stay as it is and leave extension questions for other media. Forum is a good place, though I've never had an answer for difficult questions that were cleared later, while individual investigation (which of course gives you more exp and approaches you to the core dev itself:)) I'll give you an example. I use to put my thoughts into gantry4/5 staff which is using totally active chat, just find them and ask ? There are people who ask how to apply this and that, without checking docs first. This is a risk:) They answer, but !J is something else than template devs, they make things their way, as you can, but the fundamental thing to do is to understand mvc standing behind !Joomla  and apply skills. It only depends on you need an ext for yourself or you are looking to make all people happy with it:) I'd start from the first thing.

Hi Parth

I think this is a really good idea Parth and that idea could make more 3pds also contribute to the Joomla core and more interested to contribute for fixes etc. And at the same time Joomla core devs also see there is world outside Joomla core to consider and collaborate with. Could be a win/win situation for Joomla community as a whole...

Cheers!
