Incoming member of Congress seeks a creative and experienced communications director who can develop and oversee a strategic communications plan, while working well with both DC and a fast-paced home state press.
Duties include mapping out a long-term communications plan, serving as an on the record spokesperson, pitching stories and fielding press inquiries, drafting and editing written materials (speeches, statements, social media), and prepping the member for media interviews and public appearances. Candidate should have experience working in communications either on a campaign or in a Capital Hill role, and must have experience of working directly with a principal and speaking on the record. Experience/relationships with Spanish language media is a positive, but not a requirement.

Job Posting: Legislative Director- U.S. Congress
Incoming New York member of Congress is looking for a Legislative Director with substantive Hill experience to work closely with Chief of Staff to develop a progressive legislative agenda and hire staff.
Duties will include working with senior
staff to make hiring and strategic decisions; setting up legislative office;
staffing and advising member of Congress; draft and edit written materials such
as floor statements, legislative correspondence and other public facing
materials. Candidate should have prior Hill experience working either as a
Legislative Assistant or Legislative Director. Salary will be commensurate with
experience. Prefer candidates with experience in areas of foreign affairs,
immigration, trade, transportation and appropriations process.
Experience working with members from New York City as well as members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus or Progressive Caucus is preferred but not necessary.
