Are you passionate about education? Campaign for School Equity, a leading non-profit, non-partisan grassroots education advocacy organization in Memphis is looking for a Memphis Organizer to join its growing team.


Campaign for School Equity aims to ensure that all children, especially those of color, and families in Tennessee have access to high quality education choices by uniting communities of clergy, parents, and students to raise their voices to create effective change.  


Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Memphis Organizer position involves advancing CSE’s mission in Memphis by actively organizing faith-based leaders, community members, and students to support equity in schools. To achieve that end, the Organizer holds regular community meetings, small group meetings, individual one to one meetings to cultivate, and grow the relationships necessary to advance CSE’s mission.  In addition, the Memphis Organizer may cultivate organizational relationships with elected officials and their staff at the city, state, and local levels.  This involves significant research and analysis, and entails partnership with members of other partner organizations in the course of the work.  


Qualifications:

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree.  


The ideal candidate will also have 1-2 years in relevant organizing experience, including managing volunteers.  The candidate must be a team player but also be able to work independently.  The candidate must be able to write quickly and with exceptional quality and demonstrate strong research, problem solving, and analytical skills.  Additionally, excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment are a must, as well as incredible attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. He/she must have a passion for education reform and be eager to learn about the inner workings of running and managing high-performing advocacy campaigns.
