Deputy Director of Technology Infrastructure Grade: E
Washington, D.C.
Purpose:
This
position reports to the Director of Data and Technology and may
represent the director with senior management, affiliates and vendors as
necessary. Deputy Director of Technology Infrastructure will monitor
and report overall performance and vendor management for IU data
systems, telecommunications and services provided by third party cloud
service providers. The focus of this position will be on the following
characteristics:
- Project Management - all infrastructure projects/programs.
- Financial Management – Plan and manage budget; review and approve expenditures for unit.
- Vendor
Management - Manage vendors providing technical support, as needed;
report to Director on major accomplishments, issues and concerns.
- Technical
Management - Windows and Linux OS, AV end point management, Active
Directory, Google Apps for Business, MS Office Platforms (SharePoint),
LDAP, DNS, SFTP/FTP, VoIP, IPsec, and DHCP, network monitoring tools and
systems, WSUS and SCCM, LAN/WAN connected infrastructures, IT security,
and infrastructure design.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage Tier 3 Help Desk, network and telecommunications staff that provides user support.
- Expert
knowledge of cloud computing including technical architecture (AWS),
management considerations, impact on business processes, standards,
security considerations, industry developments, etc.
- Plan the
development of all IU networks, LANs in managed offices, WANs and the
connection of these LAN/WANs to the Internet and integrated digital
audio-visual systems;
- Develop and maintain systems and
procedures required to ensure security of networks, infrastructure,
phone systems, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, audio-visual systems
and applications.
- Identify and manage such consultants, integrators and vendors as may be needed to assist with network management and expansion;
- Provide
high-level technical and analytical support for development and support
of new technology and desktop products and configurations;
- Manage the audio-visual and office computer systems, particularly for officer events both in town and out-of-town;
- Provide regular reporting of network activity, Internet connectivity and statistics;
- Remain
current on the development of technology trends through trade and
general media, conferences and other training opportunities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in CS, IT/IS, Engineering or other technical field.
Minimum Qualifications: 10+ years of related experience.
An
Master’s degree in a related field is preferred along with relevant
experience plus minimum qualifications. One or more of the following
currents certifications are preferred: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, ITIL, MCSE,
MCITP, and/or PMP. Previous experience working in the labor movement or
a nonprofit is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with local unions and allies.
- Ability to recruit, lead, develop and supervise staff.
- Ability to develop strategies, budgets and plans.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Skill in the use of personal computer, including Microsoft Office and the Internet.
Physical Requirements:
Work is generally performed in an office setting. Long and extended work hours and travel required.
