Field Organizer Wanted for a Competitive Upstate New York Congressional Race

Want to join an exciting Democratic campaign to re-elect a Progressive Democrat to Congress, and help elect Democrats up and down the ticket?  A highly competitive Congressional campaign in Upstate New York is seeking hard-working and passionate Field Organizers for the 2016 cycle.  Field Organizers will be responsible for building teams and motivating volunteers in targeted areas of the state, coordinating voter registration efforts and voter contact programs in their designated turf. Field Organizers will be the face of the campaign in their region, and will maintain positive relationships with local Democratic group leaders and volunteers, as well as engage and include a new generation of first time activists. The desired candidates for the position will be enthusiastic and organized with an ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities include:

- Developing volunteer leaders to help carry out phone banks, canvasses, voter registration drives, and other events designed to contact voters and engage volunteers

- Meeting voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals

- Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and volunteers

- Executing the Field and Get Out the Vote Plan for assigned area

- Meeting daily reporting and various deadlines

- Performing other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

- Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals and enthusiasm for electing Democratic candidates up and down the ticket

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to meet tight and competing deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously

- Ability to train and instruct volunteers

- Discipline and a solutions-oriented attitude toward tasks

- Strong time management and organization skills.

- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends

- Access to reliable transportation required

- Fluency in Spanish and past campaign experience is preferred, but not required
