POSITION AVAILABLE: Director of Development & Innovation– Full-time, Position located in IL

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead fundraising activities for Common Cause Illinois

RESPONSIBILITIES: Expanding annual giving program by identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects capable of supporting CCIL at the level of $1,000 and above.  Increasing our membership base of small donors through coordinating membership activities such as action alerts, membership drives, and membership events.  Planning, organizing and implementing CCIL’s annual “Champions of Democracy” Gala, in cooperation with committee members and volunteers. Processing donations and preparing gift acknowledgements in a timely manner. Leading foundation research, cultivation as well as assisting in the writing and submission of grant proposals. Maintaining database(s) for grants, donors, members and volunteers and processing donations.  Participate in policy and organizing activities, when appropriate. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. We will, however, consider non-degreed candidates with exceptional fundraising experience.  Experience as a fundraiser for political campaigns or nonprofit organizations or both.  Background in small donor outreach, managing major donors, organizing large fundraising events, and experience working with foundations. Commitment to political reform and social and economic justice. Strong empathy, ability, comfortableness, and desire to work in diverse settings.  Ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.  Ability to keep donor information confidential, as appropriate.  Willingness to work flexible hours—including occasional weeknights and weekends.  Commitment to working as part of a team.  Able to take initiative and a self-starter.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and current social media platforms required.  Strong background with Luminate (or mastery of a similar web-based CRM platform) is a plus.
