Hello,

it seems in the parameters for a job, the labels (==variable names) for Boolean entry fields moved from the left to the right.
So below "reuseBuild" or "skipMakePreptest" are now to the right of the boolean fields; while for string parameters or choice parameters, they are to the left of the field:

I'm seeing this on all browsers I've tried: Firefox (68.5.0esr), Chrome (80.0.3987.106), Edge (44.17763.831.0) all on Windows 10.
We're running Jenkins 2.204.2 and while we're not sure, this seems to have started with the update from 2.204.1 to 2.204.2.
Jenkins runs on a Linux machine using  OpenJDK8U-jdk_x64_linux_hotspot_8u232b09 (No container)

Is this a bug ? A feature ? Some Windows setting ?
Can I configure this somewhere ? (Couldn't find it)
Are there some plugins or other influences involved ?

I would like to get the labels for boolean fields back to the left side, together with the remaining labels.

Thanks

Martin

Hello,

update to my own post.
  1. 2.204.1 shows the same behaviour (checked with a colleague)
  2. 2.89.4-ece-1 ("somewhat dated") shows the label on the left, as I would like (and had expected)
  3. The screenshots on the description here: https://wiki.jenkins.io/display/JENKINS/Parameterized+Build also show the labels on the right.

Update 2 to my own post:
Unfortunately, this seems to be considered a feature, not a bug:

Here are the Jenkins bug tickets on it I found: [As usual, my first search before my first post here, came back empty]

" Starting from some Jenkins release in this year (cannot remember exactly, but seems that it first occured in winter/spring 2019), boolean parameters title started to display not left-hand side (as it was before), but right to boolean check mark. It looks not quite logical, so i doubt it's feature and not a bug. It affects both Freestyle and Pipeline projects. "
„It's by design. It will look better when we switch away from the table layout.”
I commented on that one – but I don’t think, this will lead to a change.
Here you also see some discussion about it, like e.g. if this specific change is a little bit early.

There is no plan given, when the intended change will be completed, or how it will look by then. Seems they plan “the big thing” with changing the formatting also in all plugins. So this might take “some” time.

Hello Arnaud,
yes, sure the issue is that the label is IMHO on the wrong side of the item now (right instead of left)
This makes a list of items very confusing to read, because I have to jump between looking to the left or the right of the item, instead of having the labels arranged on the left in one vertical line.
Did I miss something ? Misunderstand your mail ?
