Determining the cell color of the stage in progress for the pipeline view plugin

Hi all,

We use the Jenkins pipeline stage view plugin to run several freestyle jobs in parallel at a specific stage.

How is the cell color of the stage that is in progress assigned?

For instance, if you look at the attached image, there are three pipeline builds in progress. In the stage corresponding to the last cell, we have configured 12 freestyle jobs to run in parallel. 

At the moment shown in the image, the stage cell with white background and red outline, and the one with green background in the concurrent pipeline job just above it, had a couple of jobs that failed. Yet, the cell colors are different. Why is it so? 

Does the pipeline stage view plugin takes the last N completed builds, and predicts the outcome?
