Hello Jaxl Users,

- Getting quite tight on schedule at my end
- Issues and Pull requests on github.com are piling up
- Worst, I haven't touched PHP in ~2 yrs

I would love to see contributions / development / improvements to continue on the v3.x code base. If you are interested in carrying this project forward, kindly let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out. Best if you find interest in one or all of the following topics:

- Non-blocking, async, socket programming
- Love reading and implementing XMPP / HTTP RFC
- Architecting (custom) client / server / pubsub / realtime / messaging systems
- PHP

Thanks,

Hi Abhinav,

Did you ever find anyone to take this on?

Hi Murali,

Thanks for the interest. Unfortunately, there is no corporate world style KT's in open source. Also it would be unfair to expect KT in the world of open source. Jaxl code is open source (with decent documentation and code comments), written in PHP (no external dep) and based out of open source XMPP RFC's.

If you are really keen on helping us out here, I would suggest start by picking up one of the several feature or bugs posted on github issue list and/or here on google forum. If you ever run into doubts or blockers, forum would be a great place to discuss them. We can also use github for the discussion.

Another aspect that you can choose to work upon is Jaxl library test coverage. Currently there are very few test cases and I would love to see more tests added. You can start with one component at a time (eg Jaxl XML manipulation class), writing tests as you skim through the code. You can also pick other interesting components in the library (eventloop, xml parsing, socket buffer handling, XEP's, BOSH, the core XMPP classes themselves) as per your preference and comfort level.
