Hello,

Has the replication feature been removed from the open source version of Chronicle Map version 3?

The entire network replication section that you can find in the documentation of version 2 is no longer there for version 3.

Or is there now a different way to achieve replication?

Thanks
Daniel

Yes, the entirely new way to replicate Chronicle Map 3 is Chronicle Engine.

However, open source version of Chronicle Engine supports Chronicle Map 2 only. Chronicle Map 3 & Chronicle Engine integration is closed source.

Thanks.

Closed source == a paid license will be required?

Chronicle Engine is not a simple "boxed product" which does a single clearly defined task. It should be integrated & tuned for a particular use-case, particular system. It comes to Chronicle Map's replication especially, because such things as replica factor, replication strategy (master-slave, master-master), entry merge strategy could not be easily configured from "outside" Chronicle Engine.

So to obtain a Chronicle Map 3 replicated via Chronicle Engine, I would say that a development contract to solve a high-level problem / develop a system is required. Replicated Chronicle Map would be an "implementation detail" in this system.

Another option is a synchronous replication via Atomix: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/java-chronicle/ZWSWCXvg1dQ which I could even do open source but didn't find anybody interested yet.

Indeed, a license is required but you will have access to the source.
