when using Spaces, visor should always appear in current window

I really like iterm2, in particular for the fullscreen support. Thanks
very much.

However, I haven't quite managed to recreate the visor behavior of
term.app. I use Spaces (i.e. a grid of desktops/windows). The key
thing about visor is that when you bring it up, you don't have a sense
that you have switched windows, and when you dismiss it, you are right
back where you were originally. I.e., the visor seems to be detached
from the other desktops/windows.

With iterm2 (built from svn), I do the following sequence of steps

1. using application x in window X
2. start iterm2
3. hit hotkey to bring up visor
4. dismiss visor
5. move to application y in window Y
6. hit hotkey

At this point I expect the visor to appear without me seeming to
switch windows, but instead I am moved back to window X

7. dismiss visor

At this point, it's essential that I am in window Y. However, I'm in
window X, so I have to navigate back to Y to get on with what I was
doing.

Is it possible to get the behavior I want with the current iterm2? If
not could it be made possible?

Hi Dan,

Sorry for the slow response, I've been backlogged.

I think this problem only happens when you have other windows besides the hotkey window (aka visor) open in iTerm2. Is that correct?

Also, when you say "Window" in the steps to reproduce, I think you meant "Spaces." Let me know if that's not the case.

Hi George,

I've stopped using Spaces so this is not a priority for me. But I've just checked, and:

No. With only the visor iTerm2 window open the problem is still there. Basically the visor window behaves as if it is attached to a particular Space. I would argue that, when Spaces are being used, the visor window should behave as if it does not belong to any Space -- i.e. the hotkey immediately brings up the visor without switching spaces. (That is how the visor implementation for Terminal.app behaves.)

I built iTerm at svn r768.

Correct.

Thanks and sorry to be so slow to reply. I had to leave off customizing my terminal environment for a while.

For the profile you have associated with your visor (usually called
"Hotkey Window"), what is the value of the "Screen" setting under
prefs->profiles->window ? Make sure it's set to "All Spaces".
