Hi everyone,
I am hoping this is normal, but I can't figure out a pattern of why these files are being created.

On my server, there are groups of "chunk" files being created in "/tmp" and owned by apache. The PIDs listed in the filenames are not consistent with any current objects we're managing. The files tend to be video MP4 (based on the "chunk" filename), but have an "f4p" extension. I have also seen some PDF files as well.

The pattern of the "chunk" file's name is:
   chunk_islandora:XXXX_MP4_123456789.f4p
   Where:
XXXX  changes because it's a PID
MP4 changes to other file types... like PDF
123456789 changes as well, but I have not idea what this number represents. Probably a cookie or session number?
f4p also varies based on file type. I know "f4p" is an "mp4" spec, specifically.

I am hoping that I'm just a little over paranoid about it, and this is just some caching thing. I haven't seem similar things happen on my test servers though.

Anyone have any info or context for these? My biggest concern is some files tend to stay there for a rather long time.
Trying to learn more :D

Yes Sir, the files are cached for and by media viewers.   You can watch the files being generated in real-time by viewing an object in your browser and executing "ls -latr" (sort by date, newest file last) in your Drupal temp folder.
