Islandora Release Team - Still in need of Volunteers!

Hey all,

This is another reminder that Islandora 7.x-16 in nigh, and the Release Team needs more volunteers. You can sign up here[1].

We have been thrilled to see many new names sign up in the Tester and Documentation roles, but there are still modules in need of adoption:

Needs a Component Manager:

Needs an Auditor:

Many! This is a very low time commitment, so please consider helping us out even if you are new to the release process.

Details for the Release Team Roles:

* Documentation: Documentation will need to be updated for the next 

release. Any new components will also need to be documented. If you are 

interested in working on the documentation for a given component, please 

add your name to any component listed here[2]. 

* Testers: All components with JIRA issues set to 'Ready for Test' will 

need to be tested and verifying. Additionally, testers test the overall 

functionality of a given component. If you are interested in being a 

tester for a given component, please add your name to any component 

listed here[2]. Testers will be provided with a release candidate 

virtual machine to do testing on. 

* Auditors: Each release we audit our README and LICENSE files. Auditors 

will be responsible auditing a given component. If you are interested in 

being an auditor for a given component, please add your name to any 

component listed here[2]. 

* Component manager: Are responsible for the code base of their 

components. If you are interested in being a component manager, please 

add your name to any component listed here[2]. 

**Time lines** 

* Code Freeze: Tuesday, September 1, 2015 

* Release Candidate: Tuesday, September 15, 2015 

* Release: Friday October 30, 2015

Hey all,

Just giving this thread a bump, since we are getting very close to the code freeze. Quite a few modules have been claimed, but there are still some lingering out there, like a sad older dog at the shelter watching the puppies go home ahead of him (</emotional_manipulation).

We are now in particular need of Component Managers, since a module with no Manager may be pulled from the release. The following modules are left:

Needs Component Manager:

• Internet Archive Book Viewer
  
• Importer
  
• JWPlayer
  
• OCR
  
• Paged Content
  
• Simple Workflow
• XML Sitemap

Needs a Tester:

• Altmetrics (New!)

Needs an Auditor:

Many! The task here is just to verify that the licence and readme files are up-to-date and fit the established template. It only take about a minute so feel free to sign up for more than one. It's a great way to show your support for the release even if you don't have a lot of time to give :)

Quick question (with apologies for asking so close to code freeze): can the person who signs up to test a module/library also be the person listed in the documentation column?  (I just did this but wasn't sure if I was violating convention here.)

Hi folks-

Following up on this since we're about a day away from the code freeze.

We need component managers for the following modules. If we do not have
component manager for these modules, they will not be apart of the
7.x-1.6 release:

Islandora Image Annotation
Islandora JWPlayer
Islandora Simple Workflow
Islandora XML Sitemap


We still need lots of auditors. This is a really easy way to give back
to the community, and participate in a release. We just need folks to
verify that a given module has a GPLv3 license file, and the README file
adheres to our template. If you're game for that, you get an awesome
t-shirt, and you're one of the fine folks who helped with the 7.x-1.6
release. We need auditors for:

Islandora
Tuque
Solution Pack Audio
Solution Pack Collection
Solution Pack Entities
Solution Pack PDF
Solution Pack Web ARChive
Bookmark
FITS
Image Annotation
Importer
JWPlayer
MARCXML
Pathauto
PREMIS

Islandora releases happen because we -- the community -- make it happen.
