Displaying markup in titles and Solr metdata

Hi all -

Apologies if this has come up before - I haven't been able to track down any discussion regarding this. We need to display markup (typically italicised/super- or subscripted) in our titles and in our Solr metadata. Some parts of implementing this change seem straightforward - update our various tpls to do some decoding[1], but getting the islandora_solr_metadata_display pieces seems to be a little more involved.

Is the community doing anything along these lines? My limited understanding is that you'd want to be careful about allowing this change (security, etc), but I would still be curious to know thoughts and suggestions for approaching this.

I've had the occasional request for this as well... I'm not sure what to do with it, though. It may be possible to make that happen with a module? Maybe using hook_islandora_metadata_display_info()?
