Hi All,

We’re working on migrating two collections from ContentDM to Islandora with ~200 items each.  We have pamphlet material in the collection and it uses a compound object to display.  As we think about improving the collection with the migration, I’m wondering if there are alternatives that others have used in Islandora for pamphlet content.  I’m considering the book reader as an alternative to the compound.

If you have pamphlets in Islandora, what solution pack have you used?

Thanks for your help.

Robin.

I think the Book content model would be pretty standard. Compound wouldn't be very user-friendly for paged objects with more than two or three pages.

I think it depends what size your pamphlets are.

We have a collection of playbill's from the Glee club and they are done
with the compound solution pack. It works pretty good, once you get very
large it might be annoying.

Jared,

Thanks for the compound example. So far our pamphlets are small in terms of number of pages. I do like the compound the way it is displayed for the playbills with top, horizontal navigation.

At least one of our pamphlets is a trifold, which may work better as a compound. The bookreader doesn't seem like a good option for that one. We're going through them to see which ones will work better with a particular option.

Robin.

Hi Robin,

The horizontal compound bar required a little theming to make work. Not overly complex and we felt was better for navigation.

But I'm happy to share what we did if it helps.

Cheers,
Jared

Thanks Jared.  I’ll take you up on that when we get a chance!
