How I fixed my foxmToSolr.xslt issues and autocomplete and citation linking

After two weeks of looking at the directory structures and with some major help and guidance by Peter McDonald this is what I did :

Built the VM machine as a point of reference and replaced the following folders with their contents:

/var/lib/tomcat7/solr from VM copied to

/usr/local/fedora/solr on my Islandora build (deleted all files/folders first)

and

/var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/fedoragsearch/WEB-INF/classes/fgsconfigFinal/index/FgsIndex from VM copied to

/usr/local/fedora/tomcat/webapps/fedoragsearch/WEB-INF/classes/fgsconfigFinal/index/FgsIndex on my Islandora build (deleted all files/folders first)

Everything now works fine.

But obviously this method of fixing the issue is not really elegant. And it really does not help me to understand Islandora better.

Can somebody maybe suggest a more elegant (read accurate and minimalistic) way to accomplish the same goal ?

I was stuck mostly on the solr schema part. I know that there are a lot of references to doing that but there is no mention of that in the Entities Solution Pack readme (or at least I do not remember seeing it)
