Dear list,

I have two open PhD positions in the newly established *Music Perception
and Processing Lab* at the University of Oldenburg,
Germany [https://uol.de/en/music-perception]. The PhD positions center
around how listeners perceive musical scenes and how audio signal
processing can improve music perception of hearing-impaired listeners.
PhD projects comprise (but are not limited to) the following components:

*Position 1*: Behavioral experiments on musical scene analysis and
individual preferences of musical scene complexity; modeling of
individual differences in normal-hearing and hearing-impaired listeners.
For details, see https://uol.de/stellen/?stelle=67174

*Position 2*: Computational modeling of auditory stream segregation;
acoustical modeling of music mixing; musical scene synthesis for
hearing-impaired listeners. For details,
see https://uol.de/stellen/?stelle=67175

These positions offer *excellent conditions for conducting research*: no
additional teaching or administration obligations, experimental data
collection is aided by student research assistants, funding for
conference travel is available, and collaboration with external
researchers is encouraged and financially supported. Oldenburg offers a
vibrant scientific environment for auditory research, and the Department
of Medical Physics and Acoustics offers access to world-class research
facilities in acoustics and cognitive neuroscience.

PhD positions entail a *3-year contract* with salary according to the
scheme 75% 13 TV-L (around 3,000 EUR monthly before taxes). Starting
date is June 2020 (although there is some flexibility). The *application
deadline is March 31, 2020. *

Please contact me, if you wish to hear more about the positions or the
scope of the lab. Feel free to forward this message to colleagues,
students, or friends.

Best regards,
Kai
