failed to connect to slave on boot up

I set up the ID on my home desk top and the master I wanted to use.

However when I replaced the slave with another computer with exactly same settings I get an error message which seems to relate to the two computers not talking to each other.

i.e the master can't see the slave and I also get a message do you want to switch slave or similar.

Do both computers have to be set to talk to each other or act in a sharing configuration.
