I have 2 windows 8.1 and the slave computer is really slow. I saw one post around here that this is the case, but not sure if there is a solution for this. Previous win7 configuration worked fine.

Also already tried changing the settings with no luck:
+ Use this system's mouse preferences
+ Caching ip...

I'm having this problem too. With Windows 8.1 Master, mouse is very slow on Slave despite having use this system's mouse preferences turned on. Worked fine with pretty much the exact same settings with the exact same hardware on Windows 8 master.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Same problem here, Windows 8.1 Master and Windows 7 slave, very slow cursor, was fine before 8.1 upgrade.

In Master Preferences, If the box that says "Use this system's mouse preferences when directing slaves" is ticked, untick the box and see if it helps.  It's not 100% like it was in Windows 8, but it's MUCH better than it was when that box was ticked.

This fixed it for me.  You have to add InputDirector.exe to the compatibility layer manually in the registry.  8.1 changes the way it polls the mouse apparently, this makes it go back to an older method in which Input Director seems to work fine with

Can anyone confirm f this method works? This is the only thing holding me back upping to 8.1 from 8.

I added InputDirector.exe to CURRENT USER/Software/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/AppCompatFlags/Layers with the value ~ RUNASADMIN WIN7RTM and it didn't work.

It's a shame that the devs abandonned this very useful tool!

Wrong way to edit.  You need to follow the instructions as if Input Director was a game.  KB in my link has the correct way.

Ive had no luck, Ive followed your link, tried to install the update but it said it did not apply to my system. I tried the ifixit msoft thingy, added inputdirector.exe and rebooted, still nothing. Have also run in compatability mode with no joy and finially edited registy as per your link under the DIY section and still no luck.
Guess im out of options and will have to go back to windows 7 =*(

A better fix for this issue is to add explorer.exe to the NoDTToDITMouseBatch thing - fixes the 100hz limit system-wide (so basically works like it did in 7 and 8.0)
