Slave Computer Screen will Randomly Turn Off During Usage

Sometimes while actively using the slave computer the screen will turn off on the slave computer and master will be unable to connect to the slave. Re-scanning for the slave sometimes establishes a connection again but then when the mouse is brought to the slave screen the monitor will still not turn on. I've tried plugging in a mouse to the slave computer in an attempt to wake it up but that only works sometimes. 

The master runs Windows 7 but the slave runs Windows XP. 

Any ideas on what the problem is?
