Hi,

The closed beta testing phase of v1.4 has completed and I'm currently working through updating the Input Director web site and documentation. Unfortunately, I've been delayed in completing this due to a number of (unrelated to Input Director) factors.

I would like to make the latest beta publicly available, rather than delaying it any further.

A recap of the features in this version:

* Supports Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10
* Supports high DPI displays
* Fixed bug that could cause cursor to transition early
* Fixed bug that could cause cursor not to transition at the edge of the display
* Alt-tab and Ctrl-alt-del functioning on Windows 8/8.1/10
* Telling Input Director that a system has just one monitor when it has many will cause it to treat all monitors attached as 1 virtual monitor and not nag you about a mismatched number of monitors
* Executables, installer and uninstaller are now signed with a certificate for authenticity
* Upgraded Openssl library to v1.0.2e
* Input Director has been slimmed down - the IDVistaService and IDClipboardHelper processes have been retired
* Minor bug fixes
* Minor enhancements

There is one still outstanding issue I'm working through: On some Windows 8/10 tablet slave computers, the cursor is invisible when being controlled by the master computer. The workaround is to leave a physical mouse plugged in.

Shane.

I have been using input director for years now and was very disappointed to see that it was a dead trail and not being worked on anymore. Very happy to have found this forum and to know that it is still being worked on and updated. Certainly will recommend to others. I love this application and am VERY happy to see that it is still in development.

Fantastic news!   Never had the problem with a Windows 10 master and Windows 7 slave, but then I ran into an issue using Beta 1.3 between two Windows 10 machines.  The slave would perma-steal the mouse cursor, even if I shut down Input Director.  I'm thrilled to be able to try this new version.

Thanks for continuing your support - I'd be lost without your fantastic program! <3

Thanks so much for updating InputDirector. It has always been the more reliable and stable option and it's fantastic to see an update with improvements for the latest operating systems amongst other features. I have downloaded the latest beta and will report back if there's any issues but it is all working smoothly right now!

I have been using this software for years to run a WoW multibox with some older XP machines and it has worked great. I only have 1 windows 10 machine but please continue to perfect this next installment of this excellent software!

Hi Raul,

Try doing a full uninstall of Input Director on the Windows 7 system, reboot and then run the new v1.4 installer.

If that doesn't work, contact me:  http://www.inputdirector.com/contact.html

Just posting to let you know (since I don't know where else to post) that your new version is working great.  I'm using between a Windows 10 64-bit master and Windows 7 64-bit slave with 3 keybindings and have had no issues so far.  I wanted to try the macros, but it seems to not support mouse and only keyboard so I don't know what to use the macros for.  Other than that I have played with all the other options and zero issues.

THANK YOU!

Synergy has this exact same issue for the invisible cursor where when I used it (when awesome input director wasn't working with Win10) for certain features to work I had to keep a keyboard (I kept a wireless USB receiver) plugged into the slave PC or it seemed like it thought the keyboard/mouse was missing when the master had focus.  So if I was running a macro on the slave PC it would stop when lost focus, I had to keep a keyboard or mouse receiver plugged into the slave to get it to think a keyboard/mouse was still plugged in.  Don't know if this helps but wanted to share this bit of info.

I normally use the slave for automating keyboard/mouse on a production machine at certain times where I can't batch script things, while I use master for main tasks (browsing, email, work).  With Input Director I don't have this issue, but haven't tried on Windows tablets.  I've used Synergy on tablets and PCs and had the same issue where I had to leave a USB receiver in the tablet when a slave to work properly.

Shane,

Glad to hear there's a new version! I just installed Win10-1607 (Aug 2nd Annual Update) and I have two small problems. First, I had to uninstalled the app completely on both master and slave. Reinstall "as Administrator" or the background service wouldn't install. Second, when doing a copy/paste I can copy on master (machine with keyboard) and paste to slave(s), but I cannot copy from slave and paste to master. I can an error on the master that says

"Shared Clipboard Data Unavailable
Unable to access shared clipboard on the system with ip address X.X.X.X
as the connection failed due to no response.
Input Director"

Thanks,

Douglas Bowie

Hi,

Could any folks that have upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (you can tell by running winver - if it's build 1607, then it's the anniversary edition) and are running the Input Director v1.4 beta, give a shout out (or if you'd prefer to let me know privately  - contact me http://www.inputdirector.com/contact.html ) and let me know if they've encountered any issues? I've had 2 users, both running build 1607, observe problems (one with connectivity issues and the other found the shared clipboard wasn't working). I've run a full battery of tests on two different desktops with this build with no issues. These could be two isolated incidents, but I'd like to rule out a common problem before I release the production v1.4 for public download.

Thanks,

Shane.

Hi,

Quick update - one of the users with connectivity problems was unrelated and has now been resolved.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition and so far Input Director has been working as normal.  Starts with the computer like it did before and my 2 macros work.

Any update when your downloads will be available? Seems your website is down, or do you have plans to house mirrors for downloads?

Hi,

I am a new user of Input Director. Previously I used Synergy for some years, and Mouse Without Borders later. I always had issues with them and  my ahk scripts that handle hotkeys. Input Director has not shown any of the issues, it has been only a couple of days but I am thinking this look very good.

Just wanted to say thanks
by the way, I am in w10 anniversay edition.
