For local unix users in /etc/passwd, mail is delivered to ~/Maildir
(Maildir in user's home directory). e.g if your control/locals
contains
example.com, then an email to
shs...@example.com will get
delivered to /home/shsunix/Maildir
For virtual domains listed in control/virtualdomains, it depends on
.qmail-default in the virtual domain home directory. e.g. if
example.com is in control/virtualdomains, then delivery instructions
depends on .qmail-default in /var/indimail/domains/
example.com
You should do man dot-qmail to understand this. e.g. type the
following at your unix shell prompt
$ man dot-qmail
How is the domain configured on your host and who is the
recipient@domain. It all depends on whether your recipient is a local
user or a user configured for a virtual domain (in MySQL), added by
using vadduser command
1. Is your domain listed in control/locals? If that is the case, you
should read the man page for qmail-users. i.e. execute the following
command in your unix shell prompt.
$ man qmail-users
or
2. Is it listed in control/virtualdomains?
You should understand address assignments (man qmail-users). If you
build a new assignment, you should edit users/assign and then run
qmail-newu command. In most cases you will not need to do this. If you
understand .qmail files, you should be able to deliver emails to an
email address to a directory of your choice. man dot-qmail will be
your best friend here.
If you could give some example of what you are trying to achieve, I
will be able to provide more help
