Celosia spicata Spreng. = Celosia argentea var. spicata (Hooghly)

Sir,

This species seems to be the same as in the post - https://groups.google.com/d/topic/indiantreepix/Ki1bAafzgGo/discussion. The post informs the species is Celosia argentea var. spicata, the current accepted name of which is Celosia spicata Spreng.

This is a wild herb growing on roadside in Hooghly, recorded yesterday (25/10/12).

Yes Surajit ji, very common as a weed.
May sometimes be confused with Gomphrena globosa but has alternate leaves (opposite in Gomphrena).
