Thank you Nidhan Singh ji. So far I have seen only three plants but hopefully I will keep discovering them. The most common here so far is the S. ciliata with dozens of plants from 2000m and above.

Ashwini

Thank you Chris. What I know about S. paniculata is that the purple ring at the corolla base is broken (continuous in S. ciliata) apart from the shape of nectaries etc. To me the flower in Alok ji’s blog look like Sweria ciliata.

Ashwini

Swertia paniculata is an accepted name within 'The Plant List'.
I have only just realised that 'The Plant List' is very useful, with links to
herbarium specimens at Kew (if there are any digitised) and images.

From there are links to Kew herbarium but the resolution is low,
so one can only gain any overall impression of the plants habit from this:

The only descriptions I have of this species are in 'Flora Simlensis' (
which you probably have a copy of) and can access it within 'Flora of
British India' (but I do not use this much).

The Kew specimens - only checked the Blinkworth one from India (no
location given).

Stewart lists the species from N.Pakistan & Kashmir from 1000-2700m.

You may well know Alok's Blog (from not that far away from you).
of S.paniculata - assuming his identification is correct?

I am not an expert on Swertia, not having inspected them closely before, so
cannot comment further at this stage.

Best Wishes,
