Office 2016 - I, too, am still on 2011.

Not sure how well 2016 plays with InDesign (or Affinity)

I started listening to the lynda.com & when it said Word was similar to earlier versions. I lost interest.
Office 2016 is installable, not like Creative Suite CCs?

I had to upgrade to latest version of Office to work on a project. Works fine with CC.

Thanks! Good to hear!

Do you place Word docs with styles into InDesign?

I do but usually end up stripping them, I don’t have client with a firm grasp of Word styles!

LOL, I¹m not sure even I have a firm grasp of Word Styles, they often go
shaky on me.

The Word docs I get from clients/writers are also a style mess, but I do
often change the main body style at least and import that to get
regular/bold/italic in correctly.

Just like Adobe software, the Microsoft 365/2016  programs are downloaded to your computer. You are not required to use the "cloud".

I have the $99 per year account--a bargain compared to Adobe's pricing--that give me 5 installs (Mac or Windows) and a terabyte of online storage.

Interesting. I’ve avoiding cloud software until I have to get it. But so far none of my clients, including the huge healthcare I do a lot of work, for need it.
So funny that they are even switching from ID to Word for a major project.
