Color by pair orientation not working on bam

I'm running IGV_2.3.81 and have loaded in bam files from a bwa mem alignment.

I've set the bam tracks to "view as pairs" and attempted to color by pair orientation and insert size and neither one changes the color from gray. 

Color alignments by read strand and read group seem to be working fine.

pair orientation and insert size will only affect color if the values are abnormal.
