Hey,

I'm trying to load a text file of precalculated per-base coverages into IGV.

Based on the manual, I've written the file as:

Chromosome     Start   End     Feature Coverage

Chr1   0       1       xxx     0

Chr1   1       2       xxx     295

Chr1   2       3       xxx     611

Chr1   3       4       xxx     1425

saved it with a ".igv" extension, and then used IGVtools toTDF on it.

However, when I try to load this (File->Load from File), I get the error message:

Error loading /Users/me/Downloads/xxx_xxx.igv.tdf: An error occurred while accessing: /Users/me/Downloads/xxx_xxx.igv.tdf
Error reading header: bad magic number.

I've also tried writing the header line as:

#columns Chromosome     Start   End     Feature Coverage

with the same result.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?  I've looked around and can't find examples of .igv files or steps to do this, just descriptions (which I'm clearly misunderstanding).

Thanks.

Hi,  I need a little more information

What version of IGV are you using?
Could you package a test .igv file to reproduce the problem in a zip and attach it in a reply here?
