Dear IGV Staff Members,

IGV is consistently crashing when I start viewing my bam file(s) after doing regular activities such as zoom in, etc.  It simply crashes unexpectedly.  Here is some relevant information.  Java is higher than 7 as recommended.   I monitored memory and I do not see memory usage going higher than 5 GB on a 16 GB memory Mac.

Has anybody else reported this problem?  Am I using the wrong Java version?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Additional information:  I have downloaded what is called "binary distribution" and with the igv.sh script Download and unzip the binary distribution archive in a folder of your choosing. IGV is launched from a command prompt -- follow instructions in the "readme" file. To launch igv on Mac or Linux platforms use the shell script "igv.sh".

So far I have not be able to crash this version.  Previously I was running the executables labelled "app".

OK, thanks for the update.   I'm not sure what that means but I'm glad you found a solution.   The app works for most people,  this is something specific to your machine or hardware but I don't know what exactly.
