Yorkshire Ripper Cover-up / Peter Sutcliffe Myth

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several valuable books about the Yorkshire Ripper case were written
and published BEFORE the arrest of Peter Sutcliffe and the creation of
The Peter Sutcliffe Myth / The Yorkshire Ripper Cover-up.

One of the best is “I’M JACK! / The Police Hunt for the Yorkshire
Ripper,” by Peter Kinsley and Frank Smyth.

This book has dropped into obscurity. But it is of huge interest to
honest people who wish to research The Peter Sutcliffe Myth / The
Yorkshire Ripper Cover-up in a realistic manner.

The poetic and descriptive prose employed by the authors, evoking so
vividly the ambience of 1970s Leeds…….. if you’ve never lived in
Leeds, it wont mean anything to you…. but if you’re an old timer who’s
lived in Leeds, this book is for you.
Try looking for a second hand copy of it on Amazon etc.
It’s called: “I’M JACK! The Police Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper,” by
Peter Kinsley and Frank Smyth.

CALL IN SCOTLAND YARD !

From what I’ve heard, the West Yorkshire Police in the 1970s were not
‘country bumpkins’ at all, but in conjunction with Professor Gee and
Wetherby, they knew what they were doing, even in 1975-80, and had no
need to ‘call in Scotland Yard.’

The following is a quote from the same book,
“I’M JACK! The Police Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper,” by Peter
Kinsley and Frank Smyth….

==============================================

“Some West Yorkshire police officers with long memories take an
understandable delight in quoting at least one case in which
[Scotland] Yard men were left with egg on their faces. Before the
reorganisation of regional forces in 1968, the Dewsbury Borough Police
were a separate unit from the West Riding Constabulary, whose
territory surrounded them. One night an old prostitute was found dead
in a doorway, her scalp split open and her knickers around her ankles.
It looked like murder, and the watch committee hastily decided to save
money and call in Scotland Yard.

[At the time, the motive for ‘calling in Scotland Yard’ was sometimes
financial, as Scotland Yard then footed the bill.]

Two London officers duly arrived, examined the body and the scene of
the crime, patronised local detectives…… Several days passed with no
positive result, until a few days later another body was discovered in
identical circumstances, but this time…… in West Yorkshire territory.
A detective sergeant from the local station and a Batley police doctor
had ‘solved the crime’ within half an hour. A few brief inquiries and
an investigation of the ground showed that the second woman had been
in the habit of soliciting in the area. She had gone around the corner
to urinate and while crouched down had suffered a heart attack; unable
to pull up her knickers, she had nevertheless staggered a few yards
into a shop doorway and had fallen over, cracking her head before she
died.
A cursory examination of the facts of the first death in Dewsbury
showed that by sheer coincidence, a similar sequence of events had
occurred there. The [Scotland] Yard men took the first train home.”

A FORMER inspector accused of helping Jimmy Savile ward off
child abuse claims is being investigated by the police watchdog.

The ex-cop is alleged to have “acted on behalf” of the warped BBC legend
by contacting officers before they interviewed the Jim’ll Fix It star.

The probe comes after prosecutors and police were slammed for missing the
chance to bring the disgraced entertainer to court over the allegations
before he died.

The officer, who was from West Yorkshire Police, is said to have contacted
Surrey Police before they questioned Savile over alleged sexual offences
in 2009.

Now the West Yorkshire force has been ordered by the Independent Police
Complaints Commission (IPCC) to refer the officer.

Today the IPCC also said it has asked SEVEN forces including West Yorkshire
to review whether there are more conduct issues that should be referred
to the watchdog over the Savile investigation.

The other six forces are Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Greater Manchester,
Lancashire and the Metropolitan police.

IPCC commissioner Rachel Cerfontyne said: “Having had the opportunity
to assess all the information that is available to us I directed West
Yorkshire
Police to record and refer the conduct of a former inspector.

“Furthermore I believe that all the forces that may have had intelligence
concerning the late Jimmy Savile should now go back and consider all the
relevant information and materials they possess that may highlight any
recordable conduct issues for the IPCC to assess.”

This follows a review by the IPCC of reports by Scotland Yard and the
NSPCC,
the Crown Prosecution Service and Surrey Police as well as information
given by forces in West Yorkshire and Sussex.

The watchdog also looked at details given by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of
Constabulary, which is preparing a report for the Home Secretary on what
the police knew about Savile.

When Rupert Murdoch gets up to deliver the inaugural Baroness Thatcher
lecture,Free Markets and Free Minds, in 11 days' time, he may reflect
that in all his years as a newspaper owner in Britain he has probably
never been more feared or more widely mistrusted. It is not just the
usual liberal voices raised against him, but a large proportion of
British broadcasters and newspaper publishers who are lining up against
his plans for market domination with the purchase of all BSkyB's shares.

BARONESS THATCHER defended Italy's centre-Right leader, Silvio Berlusconi,
yesterday, saying he was the victim of "character assassination".

In an article for Italian newspapers, Baroness Thatcher said he was a
political soulmate and other Europeans had no right to interfere with the
election. "This is not the first such Europe-wide attempt to bully
national electorates," she said.

Mr Berlusconi, the head of a media empire and one of the world's richest
men, has been under investigation on several corruption-related charges.
Several European publications, led by The Economist magazine, have
expressed dismay at the prospect of him leading the country. Belgium's
Foreign Minister, Louis Michel, has said that Italy should be isolated
politically if he wins.

Lady Thatcher said: "Since this exercise in character assassination was
launched, if not necessarily devised, in Britain, it seems appropriate
that, as a former British Prime Minister, I should offer some comments."

All the judicial charges against Mr Berlusconi had been dismissed or
dropped or were unsubstantiated, she said. Europe's journalists should
look for corruption in their own backyards rather than pointing their
fingers at Italy.
