question re: recent change on color (and others)

I realize some recent changes on icomoon app.

1) a unicode function is wrapping the variables and the variables are no longer pure string.
2) color code is now attached to the icon class even if it is a single color icon

My questions:
Is there any other changes? release note or change log or sth will help.
and
can I disable the color for single color icon? It's really painful for me to change all my code.
