Hi, can anybody please help me with this. what this error mean exactly? we are running on websphere 5.1.0 with AIX 5.3. using IBM Httpserver1.3.28. In two of the instances I am getting this error out of 8 instances in a cluster. This is the systemOut.log file from one of those instances.

If it's critical, open calls to IBM and Actuate support. For sure, you can
also post here, but don't expect everybody will stop his work to help you.

The stacktrace shows there is a parsing problem due to invalid characters.

Maybe a client sent garbage ?

I can understand. this is critical in the sense that we are going live in 3 more days and still having some issues like this. We dont have the IBM support becuase these guys purchased websphere from MRO. so Yes, I can open a ticket with actuate but not with IBM. thats why I was posting it in here.

Sorry to hear you're under pressure, but so is the life...

What makes you believe it is a problem ?

There is an XML parsing error, because of an unexpected character.

If the SOAP client sends garbage, one can reasonably expect that an
exception is logged at the SOAP server-side.

It could be caused by an invalid SOAP request like incorrect character-set
encoding declaration in <?xml version="1.0" encoding="..."?>.

How reliable (i.e. bug free) is the SOAP client ?

Anyway, Actually its not an Error as you stated but I want to know what is causing that SOAP error. thats all. and I dont know what is SOAP Client is? Hope that is bug free. There are tons of information on the internet about SOAP.

Not everyone can be an expert at everything, so talk with your developers or
with the software provider to sketch the environment and see who addressing
the application and what the cause of the error can be.

Not every error in the log is a reason to alarm yourself, but if you're
unsure and worry about the error, report it and let have it investigated by
experts.

From what I can see, I assume that a SOAP client sent a buggy request caused
the service to log an error, or it can be that the server is not able to
decode the Unicode content due to a misconfiguration.
