Hello,

Does anyone know where I could get about 15 feet of solid (not stranded), raw (no coating) 8 gauge copper wire locally and for a reasonable price?

Thanks,

Leora

(Limiting my post to just the one group so members don't get dupes).

I'm 80% sure Home Depot sells it by the foot. I know I've gotten either 6, 8, or 10 there before but I can't remember which specific gauge.

Simply strip it from building wire.  You know, the kind of wire used inside walls to wire up homes for lights and outlets.  It's a pain to strip the insulation but that kinda wire is laying around everywhere.  Five feet of three conductor #12 wire gives you your 15 feet of bare solid copper wire.

Could you just buy the building wire from somewhere? Hardware store? I'm curious myself...

The wire I have is 3.38mm dia which is slightly larger than #8, so it's #8.  Do you still need this, or were you able to find some elsewhere?
