Hello, my name is Susan Martin. I am the Program Director of Quo Vadis Homeschoolers in Sterling Heights.

I recently created a class schedule for my Spring semester (beginning January 26, 2018) that included classes being run by TechShop. These classes were to be taught onsite at my Sterling Heights location (18 Mile/Ryan).  Obviously, with the TechShop closing, they will no longer be able to run those classes for me.  Unfortunately for me, my class enrollments were already processed and I have 5 full classes for what was to be taught by TechShop.

Our classes take place on Fridays from 10:15am-3:45pm, for 14 weeks. Each class is 55 minutes long.

I am hoping someone from i3 Detroit may be interested in leading similar classes for the students in my program, or possibly know of someone who is.  Below are the course descriptions, provided by TechShop, to give you an idea of what we are looking for along with some of the requirements to teach for us.

Robotics: Arduino Robotics - grades 6th-8th & 9th-12th (14 students max each class; scheduled at 1:45pm & 2:45pm) Paying $1250 each class.

Are you ready to start programming your own robot and take control of your robotic world? In this 14 week course TechShop Detroit will show you how to design, build, and program your own Arduino microcontroller.
This introduction to the all-powerful Arduino board includes training on wiring, inputs, outputs, and programming. You will use your new found skills with the Arduino boards to make a multitude of different projects throughout the course of this program.
(Students will be taking home their own microcontrollers & projects)

Electricity: Basic Electronics - grades 9th-12th (12 students max; scheduled at 12:45pm) Paying $1100

In this 14 week course TechShop Detroit will take students through various electronic projects to get them proficient in the basic understanding of principles and practices in soldering, blueprint reading, and board layouts. Students will also be introduced to working with wave generators, oscilloscopes, multimeter's and small voltage power generators.

Design: Design and Build - grades 3rd-5th (12 students max; scheduled at 11:45am) Paying $940 & 9th-12th (14 students max; scheduled at 10:15am) Paying $980

In this 14 week Design and Build class, TechShop Detroit will introduce students to software and to rapid prototyping principals and equipment. Students will tackle multiple projects, including a personally designed light box, during this course allowing them to bring their creations to life using TechShop's laser cutters and 3D printers.

Additional Information:
~Each class price includes all supplies, for all enrolled students. The idea was for each student to be able to bring home their own projects.
~Each onsite, seated class also has an online component. Templates are set-up for this and the program is very user friendly.
~Each individual working with the students will be required to have a LiveScan fingerprint background check on file ($64.50, reimbursable after start of classes)
~Ichat background check is also required due to the facility we are renting (at catholic church) - FREE
~Protecting God's Children Workshop completion required due to the facility we are renting (at catholic church) - This is a FREE 3 hour workshop at location of your choosing.
