All materials and supplies are provided.

Safety Notes: Please wear long pants and shoes with closed toes (leather is best). Long hair should be tied back and loose clothing avoided. Please bring a N95 or P100 dust mask and a pair of safety glasses. Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This class is not appropriate for young children.

Cost is $19 for materials and $36 for the course for a total of $55. $16 of the course fee is nonrefundable.

What is fold forming?

Fold forming adds dimension and surface interest to your metal that can be used for designs and objects or jewelry to be enameled. As the metal is folded and opened, hammers are used to create hard edges which contrast with softer, folded areas. Other patterns and textures can be added. This is a method introduced by Canadian metalsmith Charles Lewton-Brain.

About the Instructor:
Idelle Hammond-Sass is a designer-metalsmith located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has been making jewelry for over 30 years and shows her jewelry at WSG Gallery in Ann Arbor, and online on Dickerson Gallery and ArtfulHome.com. She also offers adult classes in jewelry and enameling in her home studio through Ann Arbor Recreation and Education.
