Post 16.04 upgrade, Hugin will start, but immediately closes on opening any JPG or TIFF image. Any guidance would be welcome.

I've used Hugin for years, without incident. However, after an update, it's not able to load any images--it simply closes.

  • 2015.0.0+dfsg-1 is the version for Hugin/Hugin-data/Hugin-tools, and I have enblend and enfuse installed (4.1.4+dfsg-5). I tried switching out to the latest builds (changed PPA), with the same result.
  • When run from a terminal prompt:

:$ hugin

That sounds like a version conflict with libexiv2. Maybe the updated Hugin version was compiled with a newer libexiv2 version, but you have an older version of this lib on your computer.

So check your libexiv2 version.

Fixed. I started finding other graphic problems and realized that it'd be simpler to do a complete 16.04 install rather than an upgrade (/home is in a separate partition). So with the help of Aptik, I was able to do the transition without too much trouble.

Everything is working well.
