I'm trying to take four pictures of a wraparound tattoo on my leg, from mid-calf to quarter-past my shin bone.  I've tried using PhotoShop CC PhotoMerge, but I only get a beautiful pano of three of the four photos.  The back photo never works.  So I've decided to try hugin, but I don't know my camera's settings.  I'm a techie, but no photog.

I am taking (well, my husband is) taking these pictures sitting at the same distance away, about 12 inches.  I am only turning my leg to see the progression of the tattoo, and am not moving.  But the last picture (of my calf) always turns out terrible when I try to stitch it!  Most of the time it refuses to stitch.

Thanks for your help.

Never tried that, but I would suggest using the procedure for flat
scanned images (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/scans/en.shtml)

Additionally, I would avoid too many control points, but rather select
a few in the central overlapping area of each image. And in the
stitching step, to stitch just two images initially, and add the rest
one at a time. I have found that the interface of the 2012 version is
a lot friendlier with difficult images. It is available for download
on Sourceforge.

If you can make the images available somewhere, we could also attempt to help.

I suspect the suggested procedure will be troublesome and not give a good
result.
The method used for flat scanned images relies on all the images being on
a flat surface, and your description of the project suggests it is far
from that.
By all means have a try, you may get a better result that you have thus
far, but you will probably have a lot of parallax errors which will show
up in the final stitch.

Hello Michelle/Kayla,
Thinking a bit more about this, I suspect the problem you are having with
the stitch in PhotoShop is that the fourth photo may have some parts in
common with the first, but parallax errors or other issues are causing a
problem. You could try to delete any control points common to photos 1 and
4 and see if that helps.
If you still have problems, and wish further help with this, you could (as
was suggested by Marius Loots) make you images available, via Dropbox or
similar, so we can try to find a solution for you.
