Hi all,

today we are releasing Hugin 2016.0.

Source tarball can be downloaded
at sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hugin/files/hugin/hugin-2016.0/hugin-2016.0.0.tar.bz2/download
or at launchpad: https://launchpad.net/hugin/2016.0/2016.0.0/+download/hugin-2016.0.0.tar.bz2

Verify its checksums:
md5: 8407dd7275374a492610221e7ae56be9  hugin-2016.0.0.tar.bz2
sha1: 6811e19f1c10da163e1c4228779beb4c12448db9  hugin-2016.0.0.tar.bz2

This is a source code release. Users communities produce executables for their respective platforms. Please announce them here.

(The release is identical to release candidate 2. The release correspond to changeset 3b4e2790cb90 in our repository, which is also tagged as 2016.0.0).

Changes Since 2015.0.0

  • The first improvement concerns icc color profiles: Hugin has already copied the icc profile into the output file when stitching panoramas. Now also the display in the GUIs takes the icc profile into account. Celeste_standalone and cpfind read now also the icc profile and use it during its processings.
  • Beside the known output options Hugin now includes a user defined output sequence. With this option the user can create more flexible variants for the output. As an example a zero-noise output sequence is delivered with Hugin 2016.0.
  • Some buttons in the Hugin GUI now have a context menu for easier access to some function:
    • Show all in the fast preview window to allow better interaction with stacked projects.
    • Celeste button in the cp tab (panorama editor): the button can now be used to create control points or to clean control points with celeste or statistical methods.
  • The identify tool in the fast preview window now also shows the image numbers on top of the images. (This can be suppressed by pressing the alt button).

Other Improvements

  • Many more improvements and bug fixes under the hood: incorrect behaviour of photometric optimizer, fixed merging of projects with line control points, ...

Upgrading from previous versions of Hugin should be seamless. If you do have problems with old settings, these can be reset in the Preferences window by clicking 'Load defaults'.

You have to be more specific.
I find only "Changes Since 2015.0.0" in the release notes. That's the only occurrence of 2015 in the release notes.

This is now in the FreeBSD Ports Collection as graphics/hugin. It
will take a few days for the packages collection to be updated.

At the same time I have deleted the port graphics/hugin-2016 (rc2).

Contact me if you have any difficulties.

Dear T  Modes

I am new to Hugin.  Three days ago I was searching for your software and my Virus detector warned me that the website is risky.  Finally I fund a no-risk path and down loaded Hugin. After installation a pop-up message appeared that a file is missing and that the program will be closed.

Where and when do I find an operational Hugin Software that can be run on Window 10 (64 bits)
Thanks for your assistance
Willi

It seems as if there is no build yet (15May2016) for Hugin 2016 64bit in Windows.  When can we expect that to come?  The 32 bit version should still run on 64Bit windows, but if 64b is coming I will wait.
Thanks.

The 32 bits Hugin runs perfectly on both Windows 7 64 bits and Windows 10 64 bits.

While I'm sure the 32bit version of Hugin runs perfectly on a 64bit Windows, I would expect it to give up when using many photos as input. I atleast have some panoramas that I need lots of RAM to stitch together. So unless some of the dependencies has been tweaked to use only the available RAM, I atleast look forward to a 64bit Windows release :)

I see Harry van der Wolf as the builder of the 2015 64bit Windows release I'm using now, maybe he will provide a 64bit Windows release of the 2016 version too? :)

Why does anyone bother with 32b anymore?  It seems users of this kind of SW would always want to be on a 64b system for access to the larger memory space.

Because there are people who still use 32-bit Windows. Even on 64-bit
hardware – manufacturers used to sell 64-bit boxes with preinstalled
32-bit Windows.

If there was a clear easy cookbook recipe to get set up to compile a windows 64b version I would be willing to try and do that.  I'm not a SW guy but stumble through it if need be, but I don't have time to figure out all the pieces and pull them together and debug making it work.  Does such a recipe exist somewhere?
