Timers that know when I'm home

I'm new to the Philips hue lights having just got mine last night. Question, which may have already been covered.

I want my living rooms light to switch on at 17:00 if I'm home, but if I'm not home not to switch on. I've set up the geofencing on the Philips app, so they switch on when I arrive home if its after sunset (which I haven't tested yet). But they didn't come on when I was at home.

Is that possible? Does it make sense?
