Job description:

The Director of Referee Training shall:

 

The Director of Referee Training shall manage the USOA referee program.

Reports to UW Hockey board

Delegates refereeing responsibilities at tournaments as needed

 

In conjunction with the Rules Director:

Implement the established curriculum for referee clinic and referee education meetings

         Interpret the rules

         Disseminate the interpretation information to clubs, referees

 

Maintains the list of names of qualified referees and their levels and clubs they belong to.

Creates guidelines & requirements for referees to adhere to during a clinic

Establishes and maintains a “best practices” handbook for tournament referees

         i.e. set up of playing areas in smaller pools

 

Responsible for informing all referees of the most common rules and the most recent changes in rules

i.e. color of gloves for tournaments

 

Establishes basic guidelines for clubs to follow to improve the refereeing across the country, as per established guidelines “Referee proposal”

 

Report to the USA Underwater Hockey Committee on a regular basis. 

 

Requirements:   The person must be a dues paying member of USOA and an active member of the U.S. underwater hockey community.
