Some of the first uw hockey players in west were skin spear fishers too - i.e. Rich White, etc, so idea followed to have a PCCs in uwh hockey. In skin spear, the participants were/are still limited to USOA west coast clubs/councils - including Hawaii.
In contrast, PCCs in uw hockey always included Vancouver, but participants were never limited by geography - y'all come. First uwh PCCs I remember, maybe 1985? at Presidio SF. Over years, host has been SF bay area, Hawaii several times, San Diego, Vancouver, Victoria, LA, Seattle.
ACCs next up - maybe 10-15 years ago? up and down east coast - Florida to DC.
Midwest/CanAm sponsored in Milwaukee started about 5 years ago. ACCs hosting moves around region as does PCCs, but MWR always, for 5 years of existence, in Milwaukee suburb. This year at end of MWR, courts were pulled and moved, and hosting moving began - 2017 in Denver and combined with a long long standing mid January event - Battle at Altitude.
The pool, new last year, near Denver has two sport courts, wide decks, 50 m, etc. Great venue. It is possible the Battle and MWR may, could stay combined - have to see what future brings. It is certainly the best play venue in midwest.
These have not been 'all star' but just plain ole tournaments - clubs and one or two potluck - left overs team. Regionals are only uwh event with actual Mixed Division where 2 women players must be in the water at all times. A decision was made that, if 3 divisions (open, women, mixed) played, women players could only play in 2 divisions not all three. There were years where women players played 12+ games a day. wow
Over the years, as uwh has grown and participation in all events has increased, a regional cannot be held in a single court pool/venue which has aced SD out of hosting. Most Canadian hosting in Victoria which has 2 court venue.
Any other questions?
