Excellent boots

Pros:
Comfort - This is my 4th pair of Salomon shoes and these boots fit just like the others, perfect! It's comfortable right out of the box and will be even more comfortable once they get broken in. I cannot speak for everyone on the comfort just due to some folks having alien looking feet. You will just have to try them on.
Durability - These are designed for heavy ruggedness and trail/rough rocky terrain use. So, they will hold up in the elements. Personally, I believe the tread that are on these boots are the best for rugged terrain and last the longest in regards to wearing out. That's my own opinion.
Stability - Excellent ankle support and lightweight. I could easily do a thai roundhouse kick with these things on or run in them.
Cons:
They will eventually wear out and I will have to just buy another pair. I guess that's life!

Great Backpacking Boots

I highly recommend the Salomon Conquest boots for backpacking.
I just finished a thru hike on the Tahoe Rim Trail, 170 miles, with a 45 pound pack. I had no blisters and no foot issues.
I have worn many pairs of boots over the years and was looking for the lightest backpacking boots I could find for this thru hike. The terrain was a mix of soft sand to hard granite and the boots performed just perfect.

Great boots

I was expecting Salomon to be overrated after having a mediocre experience with Merrell since both brands produce similar products, but the difference is night and day. When I opened the box, I tried these on barefoot and all I could think is how comfortable they felt. I haven't done any hiking in them yet, but I have worn them around for a full day of normal activity and they don't seem to need any break-in period at all. The tread is super grippy, so the only thing I'm left to wonder is how well they'll keep rain out.
