As an owner of two large dogs, I get out daily year round in all weather to exercise the dogs. My husband and I walk 3-4 miles everyday. Living in northern Maine, we can have 6 months of snow and ice and I have tried every product out there for better traction especially on ice. I have had YakTrax and Stabilicers. These products slip off your boots in deeper snow which is so frustrating to arrive home and discover one missing after paying forty dollars for them and not being able to find them after walking back several miles to locate them. Also, YakTraxs seldom last the entire season. Frequently the coils break. Most recently we have had YakTrax Run which have a combination of coils and carbide tips and although I liked the concept the usual problems were an issue i.e. breaking/slipping off. Although the YakTrax Run have been less likely to slip off than other models I have owned. Also, my husband has arthritis in his feet and found these other products painful to walk when on
his otherwise comfortable boots. So he would chance it and has ended up on the ground a few times. I came across IceBugs and was intrigued by the concept. I ordered a pair for myself and my husband. They are perfect for icy conditions and very comfortable to wear with no worries about the loss of the grippers. My husband loves them because they don't cause his feet to hurt. We have typically been Merrell Boot owners and love the boots but they do not offer the built in traction that IceBugs do. A little pricier than the Merrells but worth the cost. I would highly recommend these to anyone. I love the reflective trim as we walk in the dark most of the winter. Also, they are very warm especially when standing around in them. I would NOT recommend walking on indoor floors with them. I know some folks who do but I do not believe they would not damage the floor with the carbide tips.

LOVE my Icebugs - Perfect in every way!

I ordered these Icebugs with Bugrip to combat the frequent black ice on our condo association blacktop. They are a little bigger than other manufacturer's' 7.5s, which is great because the fit is perfect for me. I like a wider toe area and narrow heel, and these feel great - very comfortable right out of the box, with thick socks, but thinner are ok too. So far I've worn them on black ice, on thicker ice, in slush/ice/snow mix, on dry pavement, and on muddy and dry dirt trails. In all cases I feel I have totally secure footing. Although I bought these specifically for the Bugrip, I may stick with Icebug as my preferred brand of footwear because of the fit, looks, and feel. I will definitely buy the slip-ons when they're available. My Bugrips have already saved me from falling, plus they're pretty good-looking and relatively light weight. THANK You Icebug! This is a wonderful product I have been recommending to everyone I meet.
