Comfortable and durable.
By CraKup
I wear a size 15, which limits my selection of hiking boots. I tried two other brands before I bought these. The first ones made my feet sore after about 5 miles. The second turned my big toe nail black. These were comfortable from the minute I put them on. I've worn them now on about 20 hikes in the Rockies for distances of between 8 to 13 miles. I've also worn them on a couple of snow shoe hikes. They're comfortable, durable, and were less expensive than the others I tried. A great value.

Columbia Men's Hellion Outdry Hiking Boot

Good, well built boots. First use: week long upland bird hunt in November without a "breaking in period" -- worked great in all kinds of terrain. 8-9 hrs/day were no problem, light weight & fits good.

Columbia Men's Hellion Hiking Boot
By NAZ
(04/23/2014) I just recently retired my Columbia Bonanza Peak hiking boots and replaced them with these. I do not hike the Alps, Matterhorn, Everest or any other mountains of the like as some claim on here. I do modest hikes about once a month. I don't run marathons. However, I like having comfy feet when I do decide to go for my 4 hour treks into the wild and I require support. These Columbia Hellions seem every bit as durable as my Bonanza Peak boots did. They fit well. I have a wider foot than normal but I can't tell you if my foot is an E, EE, or EEEEEEEE. I have a normal foot - they're size 9-9.5, but they're a little wider than some people's feet. These fit excellent.
My initial thoughts on these boots are: excellent fit - snug/firm but not tight (comfortable). Boots are meant to cradle your foot. These do. Materials seem to be well made. My old Bonanza Peaks had brass upper hooks for the laces where these are plastic. These still seem like sturdy plastic - they
don't give any indication of weakness when I hauled on the laces. The soles seem well made and comfortable.
I will have to edit this post later for updates ref durability, but for now, I am very pleased with these boots. The only reason I gave them a 4 stars (other than because people are always skeptical when they see a 5-star review) is that there is two pressure spots when I laced up the ankle/offset hooks for the laces (the ones on the brown rubber area).
