Try on first before buying
By Daniel Cheng
As this was our first venture into hiking shoes, the best advice is go to REI or whatever hiking store, try on a bunch of shoes and find the one that fits you right. It must have taken us almost an hour to figure out which shoe manufacturer fit the foot. And don't forget to wear real hiking socks when trying them on. Getting the water proof layering was clutch. My fiance wore these all day snow shoeing and feet were warm and dry after. Don't have anything cheaper to compare to, it is pricey but has been durable so far.

My favorite hiking boots
By Happy Veggie
I have bunions on both feet and the wide toe box is roomy for me! It offers the support of a boot but doesn't feel like a vice as many boots do on my feet. They give and require little to no getting used to. I've had 2 pairs so far and will definitely go for a third. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is they are not terribly tough. They are great for trail hiking but when I do cross country hikes, they get torn up pretty easily. The soles hang in there, though!

Excellent boots
By CorgisRock!
Thanks to these La Sportiva women's hiking boots, I was able to make 3 treks up and down extinct volcanoes, through the rainforest of Rwanda to photograph gorillas!! Earlier I had tried on many other brands of boots. Either they hurt, or they were too narrow, or my heel slid around in them, or they pressed painfully on my ankle bone. Then I discovered La Sportiva. Hooray! Maybe because they are Italian, they fit "European" (a bit wide) feet better. Out of the box they were 90% comfortable. After breaking them in around the house and on short errands, they became 100% perfect for me. The rough and challenging terrain of the gorilla treks certainly gave these boots a workout. My ankles felt supported, I could walk confidently over large loose rocks, my feet felt comfortable, I did not slip, and I got zero blisters! Although I did not stand in water, the GoreTex liner did keep my feet dry in mud 2-3 inches deep. Afterward, the boots were easy to wash off and they dried
quickly. I am very pleased with these La Sportiva boots ... and the gorillas are amazing and magnificent!!
