Sturdy, Stylish and Comfortable

I am now on my second pair of these great shoes. The first pair was "just starting" to wear a bit (slight delamination of the rubber trim at the toes and some scuffing-nothing serious), so I replaced them since I wear them to work. I still have and use the original pair for tough jobs around the house. Last weekend, I was digging in wet, muddy conditions and as long as I didn't completely submerge my foot, I stayed dry and I wasn't slipping around very much.
I originally bought these when I was looking to replace a pair of Keens that had worn out. The salesperson suggested I look at these which were less money and more durable than the Keens. He was right. The first pair is still going strong almost a year and a half after I bought them and I wear them a lot.
For the original pair, I used a pair of Superfeet insoles to replace the flimsy ones that came with the shoes. I went to do that again with the new pair, but found that the insoles provided are much
improved and rather substantial, very much like the Superfeet in construction, so I just left them in.
A note on sizing - I normally wear a size 12 wide and bought these in a 13 and they fit fine.
Update-just bought my third pair. Not because the second was worn, but because I spilled some gunk on them and they are not as good looking for work/outings as they should be. The second pair is still going strong, but now they will be delegated to hiking/outdoor work, etc.

Great Walking Shoe

I use it for light tramping with a light pack. It gives excellent sole and foot protection but naturally little ankle protection. It is very comfortable to wear and fits my foot perfectly. Highly Recommended.
This written year later - My 5* rating stands. This has done several long hikes and tramps and will easily last another year. Slight outer heel wear but normal for the type of hiking and general walk use it has done. Very good foot support and the metal eyelets are a good construction feature. Tommonz

Great shoe!

I work in a restaurant and wear them every day for work and play. The soles do a great job on greasy floors and rocky trails. My last 2 pairs of Garmonts and Patagonias were good but started falling apart in about a year whereas these are still going strong after almost a year and a half. If you are on your feet a lot and need great support (I have a hip replacement) these things are a must.
