Neutral stance Gore-Tex
By Dan Leithauser
For the past two years I have been wearing zero drop shoes, notably Vibram FiveFingers and GoLite. I have tried some of the New Balance products but never found one that my feet really liked. FiveFingers put you very close to the ground, GoLite not so much with additional cushioning. Once you start wearing zero drop shoes, everything with any kind of heal feels weird and unbalanced. I have returned more shoes than purchased due to this problem... you just cannot tell by looking at a shoe exactly how much the drop may be. That is why when I see a spec like "4mm Drop / 10mm Cush / 21mm Stack Height", I know that someone else thinks this is important. Someone at Merrell!
Coming from my normal barefoot shoes, the lift is barely noticeable. I knew as soon as I put them on they were keepers. The fit is good, and while I can wear 11 or 11.5, depending on how the toe box is configured, the Proterra Sport has a slightly boxy toe box, making 11 great. Drenching rain in
the Pac NW proved water proof quality. Very comfortable. If you don't need Gore-Tex maybe try the non-Gore model.

best shoes by far
By dc
Ive had these shoes for at least 5 months. I work the 3rd shift and am a carpenter. These shoes really go well with chicagos cold weather. Ive worked outside in negative degrees and walking through any height of snow. Water proof helped out a lot.Normally all my shoes and socks would be wet but these shoes prevented that. And also for construction type of work these are awesome. All the dirt, paint, dust, snow, water, etc. Comes right off. And also since I have a back injury these shoes help out alot with walking with the right amount of balance on each foot. These shoes barelly have any wear and tear from 5 months of intense full time work and chicagos weather.

shoesss

Bought these shoes for wetter colder weather..hence goretex. I've only worn them a couple time so far, but they seem to get more comfortable each time I wear them. I'm a big fan of the zero drop shoe and these serve well. I'm still getting used to the amount of cushion under foot, but once I get into any water/sand/mud I suspect I will appreciate being slightly elevated. Wished the laces were different as the round laces tend to come loose. Overall its a great shoe.
