Hello List,

The Gallery of Hermes-Lite Builds is growing. I added mine plus a few past posts from this list. All you need is a free github account to update this gallery with your build. If you have problems or can't host your own picture, post to this list and someone will add it to the gallery.

Hello Group,

I just the picture RV3APM, Serge, sent me. He has built the v1.2 frontend and is using a CVA9. All his boards are from OshPark. Check it out at the Gallery of Hermes-Lite Builds.

Steve,

Just wondering why my contribution to the Gallery has changed during the summer. The image I provide from my homepage site (elisanet.fi) is not fully displayed  in the Gallery while in my homepage everything is OK. The original  image file is over 1 MB but this is hardly any limitation these days ...

Hi Heikki,

I see the problem with your photo too. If I go to your full elisanet.fi address that is on that wiki page source for this photo, then I do see the picture but download is slow. If you look at the actual address used for the photo on the wiki page when viewed in a browser, you will see that Google is caching the image. I believe the problem is due to the slowness of your source site interacting with Google's cache. See this post. I tried purging Google's cache, but still see the same problem. If I have your permission, I can copy your photo into the github repository and hopefully avoid this problem.

Steve,

Tnx for your advice ! As the problem may exist in my source site, on which I have little control, You will have my permission to put the image file in the Github repository. What still puzzles me is, that when I rewrote my paragraph in the Gallery (8 months ago, about) and added the current image, everything seemed to be OK. The existing problem occurred during the summer months => something happened at either end, Google or Elisanet.

I have just added my HL setup at the end of the page.  Im not sure if this needs any approval, I could just edit the page and its showing up there after saving.

Hi Amogh,

Thanks for adding your photo. I haven't looked at that page for a few months and there are several new additions. People can see the gallery at

Hello group,
I have finished to build my second unit using the sdk + HL 1.22 + FE 1.42 + PA + LPF ( I  got these parts as spares for the first unit, but as I never found any trouble on it, I have decided to build a second unit ) The OP2674 gives around 25mW (1.6Vc on a scope with a 100% quisk tune), a RD06HFV1 driver with a 3db pad boosts the power up to 250 mw and the 20W PA from K5BCQ delivers a clean 10W. LPF are from qrp-labs as usual on my tx.

Softwares : quisk runs well on an Odroid C2, and the same quisk & openhpsdr & sparksdr work very well on a small computer YUNTAB® Intel Mini pc Windows 10 Z3735F Quad-core 1.83 Ghz that is the same size as a mobile device, costs around 120 € only with W10 installed. I could open up to 18 receivers with Spark on this small unit and maybe more. The only issue is the lack of an ethernet plug, and as the internal wifi didn't give me enough stability, I recommand the use of a usb to rj converter to connect on the lan with the HL hardware. Openhpsdr uses 50% of the CPU.
I have used shortly sparksdr in ssb : drive and compression must be well adjusted for a clean audio. (not easy as compression level "1" doesn't give output, and over "21" it is really too much. )
Of course the digital modes work very well, thanks again to Steve for the hardware and to Alan and Jim for their nice softwares.

Hi Pascal
good news... another HL alive in Foxtrot :- )
I'm using almost the same kind of OPA and make it deliver 0,5W to 1W without problem

you probably could drive your K5BCQ without the RD06HVF1

Hi Pascal,
Good news to hear it's all up and running.
I have a HL 1.22 with a CV8 + funkamateur.de 1W driver and I recently
have been thinking of adding the K5BCQ 20W PA to it.
The RX/TX FET for the 1W driver should also be able to switch the RX/TX
relay of the 20W PA.

Hi Sid,
I have connected the driver in place of the pad on the K5BCQ PCB, so I have only one relay.
I agree, there may be something wrong in my setup as the normal output power of the 1,42 must be 100 mW at least. I just built the 1,42 as shown on the drawing from Steve. Now, it is in the box, and I really don't like to open something that works well ! The advantage is the components don't heat, so their lifetime would be longer.

There is another solution , the PA-2008 from QRP-project can directly give 10W from a 10 mW output.

That could be funny to manage a ssb qso between european Hermes-lite users...may be on 40m or 80m... F6ITU and I are qrv with a decent power.

Just a pic of the HL2 and SparkSDR and a el cheapo Win 8 tablet ($40 on the discount table last year)  So far three receivers running.  Transmitting fine -- haven't put it on the air yet -- just dummy load (easy 5 watts without getting too hot.)   I'll put it in a box tomorrow and take in camping weekend after this.  Thanks to Alan and Steve.

Jack,
that's looking good, what is the screen resolution? I'll try and ensure everything fits going forward.  For field work I fancy one of these https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wireless-Travel-Extender-TL-WR802N/dp/B00TQEX8BO connected to the HL and  with the antenna also directly connected so no need to carry rolls of feeder or network cable.

Alan,

7.0” diagonal WSVGA screen at 1024 x 600 native resolution.  Its not the best touch screen; but I just ordered a Bluetooth Keyboard/Mousepad combo from Amazon that may help with the data interface.  I will head to the shop and make a wood stand for it later today -- maybe balsa wood for backpacking -- just kidding.   I've got an old version of a similar router (TL-MR3040 ) 150Mbps.  I might  see if it will work -- might not be enough oomph.  Thanks.

Hello Group,

I got my own HL2 working this weekend.  It is the default build with AFT05 finals.  I am now a happy camper!

Hello Group,

Another  HLV2 board is alive and running. I got the bare PCB from Stew, KF5KGO and the parts from Digikey and Mouser. Thank's again Stew for the PCB.

I've not yet the 5W PA populated.

Hi Group,

OK1DX sent an HL2 build update. There are pictures and information on the link.

After some time I finally put into box my HL2, seems to be working fine, thanks for great design and support!

Hi Steve,
Delighted to say my HL2 V6 build and the N2ADR board that you recently sent me are now live. I have put a photo and some comments on a new Gallery Page for V2.  Hope that's OK.
Many thanks for all your work on this, without which all of this would not be possible.  Now very much enjoying using Spark SDR on my Windows 7 PC having run into problems with quisk and WSJT-X on Windows which I have yet to successfully resolve using virtual audio.
