The Company

Springboard is an online education startup with a big vision for transforming education using open online learning.  We believe we are in the early days of a revolution that will not only increase access to great education, but also transform the way people learn.

Our early product gets a lot of love from users and we've been written up in TechCrunch,Economic Times and YourStory, and have been on the front page of HackerNews, ProductHunt and Reddit.

We are just over two years old, seed funded and growing fast. We have been selected for Microsoft Accelerator Batch 4 (Spring 2014) and Nasscom 10000 startups Warehouse. Some of our investors include LinkedIn co-founder Allen Blue, InMobi co-founders Naveen Tewari & Amit Gupta, Junglee co-founder Anand Rajaraman, 500 Startups and The Princeton Review founder John Katzman.

As one of the early hires, you have the opportunity of growing along with the company and play a role in defining the company's roadmap.

The Founders

The founders - Parul and Gautam - are lifelong learners, and are passionate about education. With around 10 patents and many more research papers in various technologies, the founders have always been thirsty for knowledge and innovation.

We are alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology, Wharton, and UCLA. Before Springboard, we worked at IBM Research Labs, Bain & Company and InMobi.

Role

Springboard website is a beautiful responsive website with Python/Django as primary technology stack. We are looking to add a lead front-end developer to our team. Your role will require you to design and implement front-end frameworks.

You will develop world-class UI using latest front-end technologies and build a product that our students and mentors come to love. You will mentor new team members, interact with product and design teams to decide best UI and UX.

We have a lot of fantastic features planned in coming months; our product is continuously being improved and you will take on a huge chunk of responsibility to build these features and contribute to a platform that's robust and scalable.

You are an ideal candidate if:

You love building things, and have built complex web applications in the past.

  • You have a sound understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • You are an expert in HTML, CSS, SASS and Bootstrap. You understand CSS methodologies, preprocessors, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • You have in-depth understanding of JavaScript and jQuery and can write optimized JavaScript.
  • You have expertise in React.js + Redux stack.
  • You regularly use Babel ES6/ES7 with gulp, grunt or webpack.
  • You understand how website front-end interacts with backend and have worked extensively on AJAX applications.
  • You have a good design sense.
  • You have solid understanding of website performance optimization.
  • You are a Mac/Linux power user.
  • You are analytical, and are curious about technology, and interested in startups.
  • You are familiar with Photoshop (not mandatory).
  • When you don't know, you ask questions or look for answers on the internet.
  • You are not afraid to express your opinion.
  • You are fanatical about the quality of your work; you finish what you start.
  • You have strong English comprehension and communication skills; you can articulate your ideas clearly.
