Hello Neighbours,

I thought some of you might be interested in a special event this weekend: a World Premiere of 'St Hilda of Whitby: A cantata' this coming Sunday 18th Feb, from 4.45pm in the University Church of St Mary's, High St, Oxford. A free drinks reception follows the Concert.

A new Cantata has been commissioned to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the founding of St Hilda's College, one of the original five women's colleges of the University. The timing of this Premiere is therefore very fitting, coming so close to the centenary of (some) women being able to vote.

Two alumnae of St Hilda's College have collaborated on this project: composer Nicola LeFanu and poet Wendy Cope

Programme:
4.45pm:  pre-concert talk: Nicola LeFanu, Wendy Cope & Prof Martyn Harry
5.30pm:  concert: 'Zadok the Priest' and 'St Hilda of Whitby: A cantata'
followed by a free post-concert drinks reception.

St Hilda's College Choir & Orchestra conducted by Dr Jonathan Williams

Tickets   01865 276 828         £20       (Students: £5)

I hope to see some of you there!

Best wishes,

Julie (27)
